Biography

Research

Frank is a PhD student working on improving the care for stroke patients by applying AI techniques to medical imaging. As a member of the ICAI Stroke Lab, he works in conjunction with 4 PhD students from different departments to improve the stroke care pathway. This pathway ranges from prehospital care to rehabilitation. Frank works mainly on extracting useful information from neurovascular imaging, to facilitate clinical decision making within this pathway.

Background

He obtained an MD degree and a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Groningen, as well as an MSc in Computer Science (focusing on Artificial Intelligence Techniques) from the TU Delft. After graduating, he gained clinical experience, working as a doctor at the internal medicine department. Eventually, he returned to academia to pursue research at the intersection of medicine and technology.

Looking for an internship or thesis project in AI for neuro-interventional radiology and stroke medicine? Don’t hesitate to contact me! I keep a list of potential project ideas here.
