Biography

Karen graduated in Electrical Engineering at the TU Delft in 2021 and joined at a start-up that works to support healthcare professionals in nursing homes. In 2023, she pursued her passion in academia again and started her PhD at the Biomedical Imaging Group Rotterdam. Her research focuses on the non-invasive diagnosis of glioma - a type of primary brain tumor. Using advanced perfusion MRI, quantitative information on the vascular structure of the brain can be obtained. These vascular parameters can then be used to predict the type and grade of glioma using AI, aiding in the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment selection.
