Our sarcoma research got highlighted by the Dutch sarcoma platform

In our BIGR, Martijn P. A. Starmans, Douwe Spaanderman, and Xinyi Wan are working on developing new artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms analyzing medical images to help doctors achieve a timely and correct diagnosis of different types of sarcomas.

For sarcomas, a timely and correct diagnosis is extra complex since there are so many types, the symptoms vary, and due to the rarity, not every doctor is equally familiar with them. To support this, new artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms based on medical images to provide doctors with a tool is in the process of being developed by the Erasmus MC including the following researchers and doctors: Martijn P. A. Starmans, Douwe Spaanderman, Kees Verhoef, Dirk Grünhagen, Jacob J. Visser, Edwin Oei, David Hanff, Arno van Leenders, and Xinyi Wan.

As this month is Sarcoma awareness month, this contribution is featured on the Dutch sarcoma platform.
