Award for best clinical research to Mirthe Kamphuis

Mirthe Kamphuis presented her work on “Three-dimensional quantification of hip morphology before and after periacetabular osteotomy in adolescents” at the Sophia Research Day and was awarded for best clinical research.

In this project, Mirthe analyzed data from patient undergoing periacetabular osteotomy (PAO). PAO is a surgical procedure to correct acetabular dysplasia in adolescents. She used automated 3D CT‑based analysis to objectively measure hip morphology before and after PAO surgery in adolescents and compared these results to normative data from the Generation R cohort. Postoperative hips showed clear improvements in acetabular coverage, by more closely matching typical adolescent morphology, especially in the anterolateral and posterolateral regions.

The work was carried out in collaboration with colleagues from the Sophia Children’s Hospital.

Congratulations, Mirthe!
