On May 1st 2026, Stefan Klein publicly accepted his appointment as Professor of Applied Medical Image Analysis at Erasmus MC with an inaugural lecture entitled A word says more than a thousand images.
Stefan gave several examples of his research on AI in medical image analysis and highlighted the need for early involvement of all stakeholders (clinicians, AI developers, patients, etc.) and the importance of collaboration and data sharing among hospitals in the Netherlands and beyond:
“It’s my dream that we can develop and test AI methods on images from all hospitals in the Netherlands, just as easy as it is to work on our own data.”
Via this route, Stefan would again like to thank everyone who supported him in his career, especially all members of the BIGR group!
