Biography

Research

Franz is an MSc research intern (July - Nov 2023) under the direct supervision of PhD candidate Tareq Abdel-Alim. Together, they are developing a method to objectively measure craniosynostosis severity from 3d photogrammetry images. Franz is also evaluating existing methods and potential future approaches for this metric. Franz is excited to work on this project and create value for the sake of pediatric patients.

Background

Prior to pursuing his MSc Nanobiology degree, Franz completed a bachelor-integrated MEng degree in Biomedical Engineering at Imperial College London. After a year of teaching training at his home church in London, Franz was inspired by the advancements in machine and deep learning for medicine and bioinformatics, and pursued to learn more about these fields through his MSc Nanobiology degree. He is now inspired and interested by the potential of caring for health through nutrition.

In his free time, Franz enjoys spending time and getting to know others, is learning guitar, and finds joy in being with his church family.
