Research
Ruben van Oosterhoudt works as a Research Software Engineer at the Biomedical Imaging Group Rotterdam. His current focus revolves around automating the segmentation and comprehensive analysis of lung MRI scans from the Generation R Study, a population-based prospective cohort study. In addition, he’s poised to initiate a project centered on perivascular spaces in the brain.
Background
Ruben’s academic journey commenced with a specialization in biotechnology at Middle Laboratory School (MBO, 2014), ROC Leiden. He then pursued Applied Physics at THUAS to strengthen his mathematical and physics foundation (HBO, 2019). Intrigued by image analysis and medical images during his thesis on digital holography, he pursued a master’s in Biomedical Engineering, with a specialization on Medical Physics. His master thesis, “Deep Learning for Post-Contrast T1-Weighted Brain MRI Synthesis”, was done in the BIGR group under supervision of Sebastian van der Voort, Juan Hernandez-Tamames, and Frans Vos. He received his Master degree of Biomedical Engineering from the TU Delft in 2023.
