Esther, a valued member of the BIGR team, has recently been appointed as Associate Professor at Erasmus MC. Congratulations to Dr. Esther Bron on this exciting new position!!
Dr. Bron has been appointed Associate Professor in Neuroimage analysis and Machine learning. Her research line is embedded within the department of Radiology & Nuclear Medicine of the Erasmus MC, and focuses on leveraging big data and artificial intelligence (AI) to extend the value of these technologies to the benefit of patients and doctors in the neurology domain.
In this position, she will continue the work she is already enjoying with her team, aiming to achieve the following core objectives:
- Better understand, diagnose and predict disease progression in dementia (and other brain diseases) based on MRI scans and other data.
- Develop innovative AI-based methods for researchers and clinicians to perform these tasks effectively.
- Address challenges related to clinical translation of these methods, ensuring they are successfully moved from research to clinical practice.
- Push the field forward in making imaging and health data accessible for research and innovation in an efficient yet secure manner.
Dr. Bron’s dedication to open science and infrastructure development is well-established, also through her role as Image Data Coordinator at Health-RI. Her mission is to ensure that state-of-the-art AI-based methods are rigorously validated and translated, thereby accelerating research and improving healthcare for neurodegenerative disorders.
